Pedestrian Didn't Realize He'd Been Shot Until He Got Home
APOPKA, Fla. -- A man said he was just walking along an Apopka street when someone shot him, but the man didn't know what hit him until he got home and his leg went numb. The alleged shooting happened at Orange Blossom Trail and Oranole Way in Apopka, where the victim tried to get help before he was rushed to the hospital.
The 26-year-old victim tried to get help at the BP gas station at the corner of OBT and Oranole Way, but had to be airlifted to the hospital. He said all he saw was bright lights and then, all of a sudden, he was shot.
The Orange County man said he didn't know what hit him. He felt a sharp pain in his leg as he walked from Rose and OBT on his way home Thursday night. He told Orange County deputies, when he got home his leg went numb and that's when he realized he had been shot.
"His friends found him, put him in a truck, tried to get him to a hospital and stopped here at the store," said Capt. Steve Lang of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
The victim had to be airlifted to the hospital where, investigators said, he may have to undergo surgery. They also said they were having a hard time with the case because they need more information from the victim and he was not cooperating.
